Winemaker Damoli
Valpolicella, Italy
Some more information about 'Damoli'
The small estate of Bruno Damoli is located in the heart of the Valpolicella region and is a family-run vineyard. The family has lived here for generations, all of whom were also winemakers. Thanks to its small size and ideal location, quality is the sole focus of the estate.
Bruno Damoli and his two children manage the business. Bruno’s years of experience are invaluable for the overall operation and vineyard management. His son, Daniele, is the winemaker. As a child, he already helped out and observed the work of his father and grandfather. He knows better than anyone what it takes to produce top-quality Valpolicella wines. His daughter, Lara, handles the commercial side. With her warm and enthusiastic character, she generously manages the family’s public relations.
History, innovation, tradition, and quality are the key principles. Their philosophy is: “Looking fully toward the future without forgetting the past!” The vineyards are located on fairly steep slopes between 200 and 500 meters, set in a beautiful landscape. Their Amarones, Ripassos, and classic Valpolicellas are among the very best in the region.

The vineyards of Damoli
The climate
The climate is moderated by the nearby Lake Garda and the Monti Lessini. Cool northern winds and the stabilizing influence of the lake ensure a slow ripening of the grapes, contributing to the development of complex aromas and well-balanced acidity in the wines.
In short, the climate of Damoli Vini in Valpolicella Classico provides ideal conditions for grape cultivation, with mineral-rich soils and sustainable viticulture practices. These factors contribute to the production of wines that are both traditional and expressive.
The terroir
The soil is a mix of limestone, clay, and marine sediments, providing excellent drainage and a rich mineral composition. These soils are ideal for cultivating indigenous grape varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, which are essential for producing wines like Amarone, Recioto, and Ripasso.
Damoli practices organic viticulture without certification, with hand-harvesting and spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts. No additives are used, except for a small amount of sulfites. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in old oak barrels to preserve the wine’s authenticity.
Winemaking in Valpolicella
The vineyards are located on the hills of Negrar di Valpolicella, ranging from 200 to 590 meters above sea level. This location creates a varied microclimate with optimal sun exposure and cool nights, contributing to the slow ripening of the grapes and the preservation of their fresh acidity and aromatic complexity.
Visitors can explore the vineyards and enjoy the rich culture and history of the area, including the Custoza Ossuary. Custoza wines are fresh, aromatic, and mineral-driven, with excellent acidity.
